Club-3D joins XGI as major European manufacturing partner
Taipei, Taiwan, October 1, 2003: XGI™ Technology Inc. today announced that Club-3D a leading supplier in Graphic Card Adapters has chosen XGI's Volari™ graphic processors for its all new series of products. By early December, whole XGI Volari™ series product will be available throughout European market manufactured by Club-3D.

Wow, Dutch? I had no idea. But I do know that they'll be dealing with the Volari "distribution" in the european market...I heard they don't deal with the states...
sure about club-3d being dutch? i seem to recall it originated form Powercolor, which is a Taiwan based company...

Hmm does the XGI Volari Duo V8 ULTRA 256MB DDR2 work the same as a 3dfx Voodoo5 5000/5500 or 6000?
All that I found out was that the two Volari GPU's are layed-out the same way as the 3dfx VSA-100 are[:o)]. So is it true that XGI is using 3dfx's "Scan Line Interleve" technology [?]
If they are I belive that they would be very succesfull, I think that these Volari Duo's are very scalable.[:I]

But anyway it's good too see a Dutch company doing there best to achieve full flavour in the graphics market :) Even I use a Club-3D based Radeon 9700 Pro and on the box there is an E-Mail Saying: http://www.club-3d.nl So that should keep the dust away from the clouds ;)
And my other Radeon 9700 Pro is a Hercules and Hercules is originated from Guillemot which is absolutely from France and not USA of or Taiwan. The main site of Hercules is

I still Prefer Hercules because they heve better quallity gear.
But Club-3d is a cheap and good alternative.

yes, in the way that they both use two gpus to render a continuous image on your computer screen.
no, when it comes to the details:
AFR (ATI and XGI): first and second gpu each render 1 whole frame, first gpu frame 1, second gpu frame 2, and then the first gpu made frame 3 etc... (AFR = ALternate Frame Rendering <-- like Lecram25 said)
SLI (3dFX): first gpu draws the even horizontal (pixel) lines of one frame, the second gpu draws the odd line of one frame.
I am really excited that there is a company again that puts more than just one gpu on one card. But I wonder if two chips can be cheaper than one.

well, the volari v8 chip uses something like 90 million transistors, while the ati and nvidia gpus currently use more then 150 million transistors (from the top of my head) so if my numbers are roughly correct, it show how two gpus can cheaper (or not way more expensive) then 1 gpu
