How do i explain this properly ?.
Ok here it goes say your going to install a new motherboard
cpu and memory and possibly a new hard drive.
Lets also say that the hard drive you have right now has a lot of very important stuff on it that would be very hard to replace.
Is it possible to install the new hard drive on the new system
set it to master and the old one to slave ? or would that cause any problems because you have windows installed on the old one as well?

My 2 cents get yourself some removable hard drive frames and use one HDD for important stuff, when you want to play with games and drivers whack in your alternative Hard drive OK you have to shut down your system but it's as good as having 2 PC's. Do a clean install on your new hard drive. Not sure if you can get dma100 compliant frames you can get dma66 frames and bob's you're uncle. Have fun! OK and back up you're system before you upgrade you're mo'bo but if you are confident with what you're doing it should not be a problem.
Probably what you should do (as 4500x2's method is rather complex and a general pain, unless you're a serious gamer) is do as you have suggested (there will be no issues with the Windows install on the slave drive), then copy your important data (not windows or anything) to the master hard drive, then format the slave to get all the now-useless windows crap off it, and copy your important stuff to the slave drive. This allows a few different things, now you can store all your data in a seperate place, so if you ever have to format the drive again, you can do so without worrying about anything but your favorites and stuff. Also, this frees up space on the master drive so that you can have more room for installing programs, as they will most likely load faster from the master drive than the slave.

Nope. Since the old hard drive is set to slave, then its O/S is completely irrelevant since you don't use it for booting. The O/S in the old hard drive would be nothing but wasted space.
