There are some voodoo2's equiped with 110mhz edo-ram.
And more impressing is the fact that the Mercury has 125mhz Edo-ram.
But now comes the question!!!! Which cards used 110mhz??
Till now I only know about the Skywell cards having 110mhz.
And does somebody know a way how to obtain Edo-ram chips of 22ns/16ns (110mhz/125mhz). I need these Edo-dram chips for placing them on my voodoo2's. Because then I can get over 120mhz or 130 (125mhz Edo).
I am already working on a project to place 25ns/100mhz on a voodoo1 card.
Is it possible that this ram was also used on system ram chips? I have dozens of old edo dram chips running around, of various speeds (although probably closer to 33MHz, knowing my luck), and they appear to have very similar ram to my v2, although I haven't compared numbers (can't seem to find both RAM and V2 at the same time, lol)

Indeed, i own an ATREND ATC 2455C with edo ram 110 mhz.
So that makes two models I know of, the Skywell and the Atrend had 110mhz edo-ram
Third model : Viewtop 3D "Vulcan2"
110MHz / 22ns:
ProComp - G111 (12MB)
Sandberg/Skywell - Magic 3D II (12MB)
Britek/ViewTop - 3D Vulcan 2 (12MB)
A-Trend - Helios 3D 2 (ATC 2455C - only "C" /not "P" version)
Guillemot - MAXi Gamer 3D 2 PCI (not -built by Guillemot- version)
100MHz / 25ns:
Apollo - 3DFXV2 (12MB)
A-Trend - Helios 3D 2 (ATC 2455P) (12MB)
Canopus - Pure 3D II (12MB)
Creative - 3D Blaster 2 (CT 6670) (12MB)
Diamond - Monster 3D 2 (8/12MB) - last.rev.
Guillemot - MAXi Gamer 3D 2 PCI (built by Guillemot)
Metabyte - Wicked 3D Voodoo2
Miro - Hiscore D2 (12MB)
Orchid - Righteous 3D 2 (12MB)
Q3D - Obsidian 2X 24 (24MB)
STB - BlackMagic 3D (12MB)
28ns:
Creative - 3D Blaster Voodoo 2 "CE" edition (clock speed: 83MHz)
Metabyte - Wicked 3D Voodoo2 (some boards)
Add a guillemot Maxi Gamer 2 at the 22ns list.
Are you really sure?

Picture can help...
Yes I am I have a picture to prove ithttp://www.thedodgegarage.com/ebay/v2_110_mhz.jpg
Look at it yourself.
And you see something interesting : the passive cooler.
Usually, the Maxi Gamer V2 doesn't own this cooler.
Well yes, but couldn't it be that he put the cooler there himself?
Because he was prety sure it was a Maxi Gamer 2.
Gul. MAXi Gamer 2 has "MAXi Gamer" logo. f.x. this one:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/zboss/3dfx/Collection/Voodoo2maxigamer.jpg
But the 22ns card has only "3Dfx" logo.
(sorry for my English)
Yup I know because I have one of m myself.
But the Guy was sure it was a Maxi Gamer2, I think he got them with the box.
You are right! There is a version of Maxi Gamer 2 (probably not "built by guillemot"). There is "3Dfx" logo instead "MAXi GAMER" logo (near the PixelFX2). I have not better picture, but it is visible enough.

This card is the MG2 with 110MHz modules. I'll add it to the list.:)

Actually I own two Maxi Gamers with heatsinks (1 brand spanking new) and one without.
1 card has 110 mhz ram and heatsink
1 card has 100 mhz ram and heatsink
1 card has 110 mhz ram and no heatsink
gdonovan
does anyone has one of those to sell?how much are you asking for it?
I have 4 Diamond Monster 3D II cards.
My 2 Revision B cards have 125MHz memory and my 2 Revision E, more current cards, have only 100MHz memory chips on it.
O my God, You have V2 cards with 125mhz ram!!!!!!!!!
ArchAngelCD these cards are extremely rare, I have never heared of a regular card with ram that fast, the only thing that used 125mhz and contained a V2 chip, was the Mercury that I know of. Well do you cool these cards well??? Can you overclock these cards to let's say 120+?? And is the PCB exactly the same as a normal V2?
It is very strange that a revision B card has 125mhz ram. Perhaps there wasn't any slower ram at the moment. I will add this offcourse in My archive.
I want oooooneee!!!:(

They are normal Diamond Monster cards and look exactly like all other Monster cards I've seen including the others I have. I have the 2 Revision B cards in my system and the other 2 in my Glide only system. I have never OC'd the B cards but I have OC's the E cards with cooling. I have gotten them up to 108MHz without a problem. I didn't know the cards with 125MHz memory were rare but I was a little surprised to see memory that fast on a Voodoo2 card.
Here are some pics of the Diamond Monster Voodoo2 cards. You can see both Revisions look the same. The top one is the Revision B card in the first 2 pics. You can see the 125MHz on the memory chips of the bottom 2 pics.

The reason you can't get them any higher than 108mhz is because you the card also has the slower 100mhz ram. What a strange combination to use different brands and speeds, But he it works ;).

I guess you didn't read my post carefully. I said
I have 2 of each card. I didn't bother to put all 4 in the pictures because that would make the pictures too large and there is no reason to show all 4 anyway. I put 1 of each in the top 2 pictures to answer the question of weather or not the 125MHz memory card was the same as the 100MHz memory card. Pay attention so you don't sound foolish next time.
But what is wrong with what I sad [:0]?
I only talked about the fact that the card can't get any higher than 108mhz. And that is due to unfortunate fact that not all the ram on the cards can get to 125mhz. And I find it strange that the cards don't have the same ram or brand. Especially because it is a Diamond, they used to build good cards (this looks like a mess to me, I don't mean the card is broken etc. but it looks kinda strange).
I'm not using different speed memory cards together in SLI. Both cards are the same in each system. One system is running the 2 100MHz memory cards and the other is running the 125MHz memory cards. They are not different in each system.
I meant that the speeds are different ON the card itself not the combination of cards in SLI. A well, the fact remains you have a very rare card, because I've never seen anything like it. Maybe there will be like 50 or so cards with this memory (pure speculation), but where they are I dunno.
Are they really that rare? You keep saying my card is rare. You should say my cards are rare since I have 2 with 125HMz memory...
Even one card with 125mhz is rare, since you have 2 the are even more rare (because of SLI).
I bought 1 of the revision B cards for $275 at a computer show in 1998. A few weeks later I found out I can do 1024X768 if I bought another 1 and set them up running SLI so I went to another show and bought a second card for $250. About 6 months later I saw the Voodoo2 cards at the show for $80 each so I bought 2 more for another system I was building for my son. I didn't realize the memory was different speeds on the cards especially since all 4 cards were Diamond Monster 3D II cards. I guess I got very lucky the second card I bought was still a revision B card that had 125MHz memory so the 2 were a perfect match for SLI. I think I'll keep at lease 2 of the cards until they stop working in that dedicated Glide system. No reason to sell them since I would probably get less than $40 for a set of Voodoo2 SLI cards. Even the last 2 I bought cost me $160 not to mention the $525 I spent on the first 2. I'm just glad I only spent $199 on my Voodoo5 5500 since we lost support from 3Dfx soon after I bought the cards.
I still have a few Voodoo cards even though I sold a lot of them.
(I still have)
The 4 Diamond Voodoo2 12Mb cards we have been talking about
1 Voodoo1 6MB card (rare too since most Voodoo Graphics cards were 4Mb)
1 Voodoo3 3000 16Mb AGP
1 Voodoo5 5500 64Mb AGP
I sold all the others off a while ago privately and on Ebay.
(SOLD)
2 Voodoo2 Black Magic 8Mb cards
1 Voodoo3 1000 AGP
1 Voodoo3 2000 PCI
1 Voodoo3 3500 AGP
1 Voodoo TV 100
1 Voodoo5 5500 AGP
I dont see reason of such fast memory on Vodoo 2 boards. The overlocking limit for all Voodoo 2 chips is only 105-110 mhz. So if you even have such fast memory your chips wont be able to work on that clock. After all there is not a lot of Voodoo chips that overclock even up to 105 mhz.
But I have a rare A-Trend Voodoo 2 12mb that overlocks perfect up to 110 mhz, but memory is 25 ns.
P.S. And dont forget that some memory vendors were marking their 110 mhz memory as 100 mhz. Like now it do Hynix (Huyndai).
i own a Gainward Voodoo 2 which reaches amazingly 117Mhz, but it only has 100Mhz RAM. So i think the RAM doesnt always have to be fast... i think the Voodoo 2 TMU or FBI is limiting in most cases...
@ TM30:
I can let my Guillemot Maxi Gamer 3D2 cards with 25ns ram on it run at 117mhz too. But that is exactly the limit of 25ns edo dram, the only way to get it any higher is overvolting. I think that Bruce and Chuck aren't limiting yet.
add this one to the 110mhz list
