Say us your problem and/or target so we could help you ...
Bye bye
Well, I've three targets:
- find/release an hacked/modified version of V3 drivers that works on Banshees with these hex hacks.
- find an compiled version of 4.12.01.0675 Banshee drivers.
- or find somebody with more hex hacks info like the forums info...
Thx.
BansheeXP Driver author
Ok,
i will see if working on banshee is possible (time problem at this moment) to solve TMUs question with GLide api's. This could require some new libraries banshee dedicated.
later
Bye bye
We need new mesagl libraries to powerup opengl/glide performance and enable this feature FX_GLIDE_NUM_TMU=2.
But 4 the compiled d3d driver i think they aren't necessary in fact we need only voodoo3 driver and hacked them with vb hex.

You're totally right mojomotion...
Please, check periodically this link:

All the realted news are in it...
BansheeXP Driver author
we must contact a skilled programmer to compile the source code! But anyways we must compile mesagl too!
<powered by radeon9700>
i ask to my friend overmind if he can compile mesagl source! I wait he answer!
<powered by radeon9700>
hi mojomotion!, and welcome to the Banshee reinnisance team...:)
Well, actually I've a mesa5.0.1 compiled (works w/glide2x) and is in experimental stages but working good...
Another thing, finally I can contact a guy called Daniel Borca (an experienced programmer), and he have no problems to helping us with the compilation. And, in fact, he is working in mesa too... yopu can find more info in the falconfly forum;)
Thx for your colaboration and welcome again...:)
BansheeXP Driver author
Good but him can help compile new OGL ICD or only mesagl glide?? Because seems mesagl supports opengl 1.4...
Ah yesterday i've made a first test with 3dfx32vb.dll hacked but when my betatester went in 3dmark the 3d accelerator were not found...
So now i'm waiting phoenix he must send me his .dll so i can re-test the real score of fillrate in 3dmark.
<powered by radeon9700>
@ mojomotion
You don't need to hack 3dfx32v3.dll of release 1.04.00 for the test. Simply rename it as 3dfx32vb.dll, it's all ! Replace the original file with the renamed and see for yourself.
Regards
OH! I'm very stupid! :D
I'll send to my betatester the right file!
THX
<powered by radeon9700>
PHOENIX...
I did the hacks over the last 1.07.00b version of V3 drivers, and they are working really nice... Mojomotion, I can send you the files if you want.

Good news :)
I wanna mention that ASUS V3200 Win9x drivers 1.6 beta are in fact modified V3 drivers. It's 1.04.00 pre-release driver version 4.12.01.0216. About the last four digits, 0 means that driver is in beta stage (1 for stable/retail release), 216 is build version of driver.
Win9x

WinNT

But it's possible to mod Win2k V3 Driver to make them compatible with Banshee under winXP?? This may be a good thing...

I send the address of the driver u made with HEx Hack to my betatester...i'll put here what he say about them!:)
p.s Why have u put in them the wickedGL client instead of ICD 761??? It has more performance??? I've tested it some months ago but the ICD whas better in FPS...
<powered by radeon9700>
mojomotion, the reason for include the wickedgl file is really simple... it's smallest and then, the final uha package is smallest too. The problem is that I've a 1 mb max. size of a file limitation in my hosting service (www.iespana.es)... I think that the original ICD is fastest too, only replace it before make the installation...
Regards.
BansheeXP Driver author
ok no problem;)
I've got an ftp totally free that support files until 500mb so if you have got problem with your ftp i'll host 4 you what you want!
Bye
<powered by radeon9700>
I've compiled MesaGL OK. But I think they don't use hardware. I can help you compiling it again and send you the .dlls
WoW!, PanoramixDruida, you can do it for us? :)
Thx, please send me a copy to this e-mail: raziel64_tester@hotmail.com
Note: I've another compiled version that uses hardware accel. We can compare both if you want.
Cya.

Thx Panoramix! But where can i find a guide for compile the mesa library?? THX:)
<powered by radeon9700>
Download the MesaLib sources from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3&release_id=149763 . Download the MesaDemos too from the same URL.
Unpack first the MesaLib sources into a directory you want. Then, if you wanna try the demos, unpack the MesaDemos into the MesaLib directory.
Then read the file readme.win32 that's into docs directory. Follow the instructions.
That's all!
Raziel64, if I can help this community, I'll do it. I'm not a programmer, but I can compile the drivers if you want, and if you tell me what to do.
Hi Panoramix,
can u compile the 3dfx Glide driver in Mesa?? i've found the docs but it doesn't explain clear how to do! THX:D
<powered by radeon9700>
I don't know how to do this too!. Somebody knows?
mmmh... let me see. I know a guy that can give you some help in it. In fact, he's one of the only ones that compiles the last mesa and make it works in glide, and only in a few hours!!!.
He's McLeod (mcleod2032@yahoo.com), author of the evoodoo proyect, an glide3x wrapper for non-3dfx users.
He have too good ideas about how implement multitexturing support in glide3x, making an special version for Banshees.
BansheeXP Driver author
Raziel64, did you receive my e-mail with MesaGL compiled?. Was that what you wanted?
Oh, yes, thx...
In fact is very well compiled but w/o acceleration. Please, contact to mcleod and you'll that he really can help you (his first version doesn't start the glide acceleration, and in 5 minutes he fixed this).
Regards.

Hi !
Could McLeod help us for compiling Voodoo Banshee driver 4.12.01.0675 ?
Has somebody Visual C++ 1.52 ? I need 16-bit compile tools (cl.exe, link.exe, rc.exe).
Regards
Hey PHOENIX...
Really dunno, I suppose yes, but you can try sending an e-mail to him too...

@ Raziel64
OK, thanks !:)
BTW Daniel Borca needs feedback. Did you send him your comments about the VB driver ?

Eheheheh! :D The current Mesa/FX is crap! Me and Koolsmoky ran some tests, but it is slower with Quake3.
However, the Mesa core blasts! I'm fixing the new Glide driver right now! The new age lies on my HDD [8D]
Bye bye!
Regards,
Borca Daniel
This guy does not answer the e-mails. I cannot do anything!

Well, Daniel Borca will try again to compile the VB driver. He is a good man and we (all Banshee users) appreciate his efforts.
So you have VC++ 1.60 : is it for 16-bit compiling ? Anyway if the file isn't too big, please send me the file(s) at phoenix15@free.fr
Thank you very much !

Excuse me for late but here are the files i have:
CL.exe (32bit compiler i see in his properties...)
LINK.exe (Microsoft incremental linker)
MC.exe (what's the rc.exe??)
Do you need this files?? if yes i send it in your mail;)
Banshee Team(http://utenti.lycos.it/MojoMotion/bansheeteam/wallpapers/BANSHEEXP_small.jpg) (http://utenti.lycos.it/MojoMotion/bansheeteam)
Well, rc.exe is the resource compiler, or am I wrong ?
About the files : MSVC 1.52 (not 1.60) is needed according to the original makefile from source code. But anyway, thanks.
It seems that XP DDK contains MSVC 16-bit compile tools, but I don't have this DDK. It would be nice if you would try to compile the VB driver, because you've got the XP DDK and MSVC 6.0.

Oh yes in XPDDK there's rc.exe too:)
Now i need the files to compile and a simple guide...but where to get them?? phoenix can you send me and email?? THX;)

Well, I suppose you can... but can be a PITA! However, Banshee compilation requires HP=H3 and TU=1 be set in "setenv.bat" or rather in [8D].bat
Good luck!

Hello !
Finally I found win2kddk.exe ! It's the Windows 2000 SP1 DDK (for WinME and Win2k)
ftp://ftp.psu.ru/pub/windows/develop/
http://www.vckbase.com/tools/drv/
Well, I got the same error. I've got Visual C++ 6.0 Standard Edition, but the DDK only supports Professional or Enterprise Edition. Too bad.
I hope that Daniel Borca or Koolsmoky are still working on Voodoo Banshee drivers, even if the topic at FalconFly.de was closed.
Best regards
Hi to all(raziel, phoenix and daniel;))
In this days i'm very Busy[xx(] and my connection seems to be died so now i'm using a secondary pc with a secondary connection[V]
p.s i was near to compile the driver when winme free build env. found a problem in devtable.h ... seems that source code is buggy[:0]

A little news:
that driver(http://www.iespana.es/bansheexp/v3vb_1.04.00.uha) don't work on my creative banshee pci[B)] ! Seems incompatibilities of somethings in hex...

Raziel, can you please send me your MesaGL+Glide compiled driver
My email is: milen@sos.bg
Hello to all
I could compile the driver 4.12.01.0675
Special thanks to Daniel Borca : without him, nothing would have been possible.
@MojoMotion
Don't forget to delete RETAIL and DEBUG subdirectories in C:\3DFX\H5\WIN9X\DX
Well, there is a problem with the D3D portion of the driver : black screen, but no crash. Sometimes, rendered stuff can be seen.
In fact I compiled V3 driver with HP=H4, TU=1 and sm=0 (Special Multi-Texture modes)
I changed DeviceID to 3 from DEVICE_ID_H4 strings, because there no DEVICE_ID_H3 strings.
Please Daniel Borca (or Koolsmoky, Colourless and other programmers) : could you help to fix the source for Banshee. Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Have u tried to compile driver for h3?? probably you'll not get black screen with that driver;)!
Banshee Team
(http://utenti.lycos.it/MojoMotion/bansheeteam/wallpapers/BANSHEEXP_small.jpg) (http://www.bansheeteam.cjb.net)
Hello again
Well, Banshee isn't defined in the source code : no DEVICE_ID_H3 equ 0003121ah.
The H4 code works fine on Banshee, but Voodoo3 driver uses TMU1 primary - not TMU0.
A text found in source code about this C:\3DFX\H5\WIN9X\DX\D3D\D6MT.C
// Two pixel per clock mode gets textures into both TMUs independantly
// (tmu1 does not pass texture to tmu0) - Also for Napalm, we don't want
// textures automatically selected into TMU1 (the combine tables do this
// when necessary - instead of defaulting to select textures in TMU1 as V3) -cws
Regards
P.S.
MojoMotion : could you compile the driver ?
NOT! I dunno why! I'll try with 2k ddk because with xp ddk it doesn't compile[}:)]

The H4 code works fine on Banshee, but Voodoo3 driver uses TMU1 primary - not TMU0.
Listen up:
The two TMUs Avenger/Napalm use are chained together in the so called rendering pipeline. This means one TMU's output is fed into the other TMU. Now, Glide normally feeds TMU1 into TMU0, while OpenGL standard Texture units work vice-versa: TMU0 is fed into TMU1 (but the texture units are numbered the same [:0]). This leads to much confusion, and
PROBABLY that is what it is about!
I don't know what was in the mind of the driver's author(s), tho... I haven't looked at the code.
Regards,
Borca Daniel
@Daniel Borca
Thank you, now it's clear. You're THE MAN ! Wow, you seem to know everything about 3dfx hardware/software like Koolsmoky, Colourless, ... Well, I hope you'll look at the code for Banshee one TMU issue.
AmigaMerlin 3.0 for Banshee would be great.:D
