Well, I've three targets:
- find/release an hacked/modified version of V3 drivers that works on Banshees with these hex hacks.
- find an compiled version of 4.12.01.0675 Banshee drivers.
- or find somebody with more hex hacks info like the forums info...

Thx.

Ok,

i will see if working on banshee is possible (time problem at this moment) to solve TMUs question with GLide api's. This could require some new libraries banshee dedicated.

later

Bye bye

We need new mesagl libraries to powerup opengl/glide performance and enable this feature FX_GLIDE_NUM_TMU=2.
But 4 the compiled d3d driver i think they aren't necessary in fact we need only voodoo3 driver and hacked them with vb hex.

@ mojomotion

You don't need to hack 3dfx32v3.dll of release 1.04.00 for the test. Simply rename it as 3dfx32vb.dll, it's all ! Replace the original file with the renamed and see for yourself.

I wanna mention that ASUS V3200 Win9x drivers 1.6 beta are in fact modified V3 drivers. It's 1.04.00 pre-release driver version 4.12.01.0216. About the last four digits, 0 means that driver is in beta stage (1 for stable/retail release), 216 is build version of driver.

Win9x

I send the address of the driver u made with HEx Hack to my betatester...i'll put here what he say about them!:)

p.s Why have u put in them the wickedGL client instead of ICD 761??? It has more performance??? I've tested it some months ago but the ICD whas better in FPS...

mojomotion, the reason for include the wickedgl file is really simple... it's smallest and then, the final uha package is smallest too. The problem is that I've a 1 mb max. size of a file limitation in my hosting service (www.iespana.es)... I think that the original ICD is fastest too, only replace it before make the installation...

Download the MesaLib sources from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3&release_id=149763 . Download the MesaDemos too from the same URL.
Unpack first the MesaLib sources into a directory you want. Then, if you wanna try the demos, unpack the MesaDemos into the MesaLib directory.
Then read the file readme.win32 that's into docs directory. Follow the instructions.
That's all!

He's McLeod (mcleod2032@yahoo.com), author of the evoodoo proyect, an glide3x wrapper for non-3dfx users.
He have too good ideas about how implement multitexturing support in glide3x, making an special version for Banshees.

So you have VC++ 1.60 : is it for 16-bit compiling ? Anyway if the file isn't too big, please send me the file(s) at phoenix15@free.fr

Well, rc.exe is the resource compiler, or am I wrong ?

About the files : MSVC 1.52 (not 1.60) is needed according to the original makefile from source code. But anyway, thanks.
It seems that XP DDK contains MSVC 16-bit compile tools, but I don't have this DDK. It would be nice if you would try to compile the VB driver, because you've got the XP DDK and MSVC 6.0.

Hello to all

I could compile the driver 4.12.01.0675
Special thanks to Daniel Borca : without him, nothing would have been possible.

@MojoMotion
Don't forget to delete RETAIL and DEBUG subdirectories in C:\3DFX\H5\WIN9X\DX

Well, there is a problem with the D3D portion of the driver : black screen, but no crash. Sometimes, rendered stuff can be seen.
In fact I compiled V3 driver with HP=H4, TU=1 and sm=0 (Special Multi-Texture modes)
I changed DeviceID to 3 from DEVICE_ID_H4 strings, because there no DEVICE_ID_H3 strings.

Please Daniel Borca (or Koolsmoky, Colourless and other programmers) : could you help to fix the source for Banshee. Thanks in advance.

Best regards

Hello again

Well, Banshee isn't defined in the source code : no DEVICE_ID_H3 equ 0003121ah.

The H4 code works fine on Banshee, but Voodoo3 driver uses TMU1 primary - not TMU0.

A text found in source code about this C:\3DFX\H5\WIN9X\DX\D3D\D6MT.C

// Two pixel per clock mode gets textures into both TMUs independantly
// (tmu1 does not pass texture to tmu0) - Also for Napalm, we don't want
// textures automatically selected into TMU1 (the combine tables do this
// when necessary - instead of defaulting to select textures in TMU1 as V3) -cws

Regards

P.S.

Hello again

Well, Banshee isn't defined in the source code : no DEVICE_ID_H3 equ 0003121ah.

The H4 code works fine on Banshee, but Voodoo3 driver uses TMU1 primary - not TMU0.

Listen up:
The two TMUs Avenger/Napalm use are chained together in the so called rendering pipeline. This means one TMU's output is fed into the other TMU. Now, Glide normally feeds TMU1 into TMU0, while OpenGL standard Texture units work vice-versa: TMU0 is fed into TMU1 (but the texture units are numbered the same [:0]). This leads to much confusion, and PROBABLY that is what it is about!

I don't know what was in the mind of the driver's author(s), tho... I haven't looked at the code.

@Daniel Borca

Thank you, now it's clear. You're THE MAN ! Wow, you seem to know everything about 3dfx hardware/software like Koolsmoky, Colourless, ... Well, I hope you'll look at the code for Banshee one TMU issue.

AmigaMerlin 3.0 for Banshee would be great.:D

Best regards
