Title: Voodoo3 3000PCI Direct3D BIG problem
Post by: Diwiak on 22 September 2007, 01:08:32
Hi,

Iam running my Athlon 2600+, 1GBRAM, with AbitNF7 board, using Voodoo3 3000 in PCI slot with WIn98-everythings running fine, but when I start D3D game, it crashes to BSOD and back to win (game is not responding).

Any idea to solve this??? I was hoping I will play AvP, TNP, and other great oldies :D, in normal non D3D mode everything's fine.

I will apprecciate your help

Thanks very much

I got this problem from the beggining, since I install fresh W98SE, with unofficial SP. I was trying to use 2 versions of official 3dfx drivers, and DX 6,7,8 with no effect.(only with powertweak 2.0.2 I could play for 1 or 2 minutes and then freeze again..)

Which driver is the best for W98??????? Which DirectX version should I use??

Thanks

probably it will be some HW related problem-it's not running under XP as well, also when using just for windows apps there is some graphic mess - maybe not compatible MB, maybe wrong 3DFx(mostly first option, because games without D3D are running allright). let it be, another voodoo for sale :-)

or you have some other advice - like extra bios setting, or some tunning software??

well, some most crashed or freeze in 3d aplication are for temperature or ram problems. check the memory rams with memtest86 or other program for most security. open your computer chasis, clean the dimm or ddr slots, clean the ram board, and shure the cleaner are free of electrostatic energy. use driver clean platinum in safe mode of windows 98 or xp, and reinstall the drivers.

for winxp amigasport 3
for win98se mikepedo 1.1 i think.

it's all gone - I was thinking about dual system XP/98, with V3 as primary card in W98-but it's not working at all(3 reinstalls of windows, everytime different DX, different drivers-still freezeing in D3D)

also I can't keep my dual system, because my new vga don't have driver for W98..

it's a shame, but let it be, I still can play through evoodoo games that will run under XP

maybe after sometime when I will have a bit more place at home, i will build extra pc for w98 with 3dfx :-)

thanks ladz
