You just need to solder on the chips and flash the card with a modified BIOS. DenisF is the only one with this BIOS but won't share it (as far as I know). No need for anything else. The resistor was for the V5 if I'm not mistaking.

I think the problem here is the CPU which only runs at 1GHz. Someone should compare the two with a more powerfull CPU (2400+/2.6GHz)

The Voodoo 5 isn't maxed out here because the CPU can't supply enough data to it.

I've read about some people using a 3.3Volt card in a 1.5Volt AGP slot.
It worked fine for a couple of months but then the cards went dead.

Can't remember where I read it, I think it was on FalconFly's forums.

No, results vary since not every VSA-100 chip is the same.

That first one is the 3dfx prototype 'L' card. The second one is the PowerColor card.

Yes, but we're talking about microseconds. Hardly noticable and the overclock will undo any performance loss :)

But you should only flash your BIOS if you've got problems with your current BIOS.

The card is most likely from PowerColor. These cards are 3.3Volt AGP2x cards even though they have the AGP4x notch.

Only built by 3dfx Voodoo 4's are 1.5Volt.

You are correct Kreshna, though as I stated, the fans will be loosely screwed onto the heatsink. I have no idea how a more powerfull fan would act.

The standard V5 fans can be screwed onto the ZMNB32-J (the orange cooler).
They'll be a bit loosely but they've never fallen off when I used them.
You don't need to modify anything about them, the screws fit between the outer fins (don't know if that's the correct English word though)

That's the first time I've seen VSA-102 being used.
Who keeps coming up with these aliasses? :D

I used the orange ones on my V5.
They work well but you need additional cooling (casefans or the stock V5 fans on these heatsinks) if you intend to do some intense long time (hours) playing.

It's speculated that there are only two of these.
And for some reason their owners keep quiet.

This is probably the best image you're gonna get for the 4000.

For a couple of years the Pentium M has dominated the low power notebook market. Now AMD has Turion and VIA comes with this CPU.

I hope for VIA that the performance matches at least that of a 2GHz AthlonXP/Pentium M.
