Title: Need for speed - CARBON
Post by: m14radu on 12 November 2006, 08:37:43
Got this strange information about de memory size.
Only 16 Mb ( ?? ) are detected....on my v5 6000.
see below:

Because of this wrong memory size detection the game refuse to start.
Im using SFFT 42.

Did somebody already managed to play this game on voodoo cards ?

With amigamerlin, 32 mb are shown.

I think that the only suitable voodoo card for this game remain the v4 4800 with 64Mb Ram.
All the new games required minimum 64 Mb Ram.
I know it's not a good sign [V], but we must find a solution to upgrade the voodoo memory....
I'm still searching for suitable memory [:p]

This diagnostic program is simply sh*t. I have X1600xt, and its writing it has 512MB LoL. (it has 256).

Underground 2 is a lot better than this and most wanted. these are too arcade, when im play I feel like im playing on a nintendo... ultra arcade. But, NFSU2 isnt fixed (and I think SFFT not gonna fix)[V]

Hm seems we'll need a way to bypass this diagnostic tool from EA suckers. As far as I recall, I've seen pictures of NFS Most Wanted running on a V6000 here in this forum. As NFS Carbon is only a Mod of NFS Most Wanted (It's not possible to develop a new game in 1 year) it should run pretty fine as well if the initial hardware check can be bypassed. I've seen NFS Carbon @ my friends place and graphics haven't changed since most wanted except its night - lol

need for speed Carbon requires a pixel shader 1.3 compatible video card, for Most Wanted a dx7 card is enough

yes, you should be able to play, but with mid-low details

Without bypassing the minimum needed memory "function" of the game, you´re not able to play this.
Because the V5 5500 has 2x32MB ( same as V56k 4x32MB )

€: But I don´t know why SFFT42  is showing 16MB

There is a way to change the minimal video memory from 64mb to lower by
opening the EasyReqs.xml file with notepad and change the minimal
display memory value from 64mb to 32mb for example.
