Epic Games choosed the two following videos to showcase its next generation graphics engine dubbed Unreal Engine 4, or shortly UE4.
The first video "Unreal Engine 4 Elemental Demo" is a classic technological demo and so presents a preview of upcoming Unreal Engine 4 based games in action and points out its new graphics effects.
According to Epic, Unreal Engine 4 is the most world-class game engine to date, and it gives you the power to do more than ever before. Unreal Engine 4's architecture offers fully dynamic lighting features, cutting down on development time and ensuring less iteration on creative ideas.
While the first video is focused on the final product can be obtained with the new Epic's tecnology, the second, dubbed "Unreal Engine 4 Features Demonstration", explains how the process to create the game changes with UE4.
In fact offering a new Unreal Developement Kit, with this new software artists and designers can bring their creative visions to life directly in game without programmer assistance. At same time, the developers have the freedom to focus on core gameplay features and sophisticated systems.
So with Unreal Engine 4 Epic promises not only new visual features, just like the previous Unreal Engine 3, but also a new framework, that allows to create and modify graphical contents in real-time by a simple GUI, and an engine scalable and accessible to make games for low-spec PCs.
At last Epic confirmed Unreal Engine 4 is a real cross-platform software, supporting a very wide range of systems, starting from the iOS based Apple iPhones and arriving to the Windows PCs, and including the current HD consoles by Sony and Microsoft.
